Mobile program provides dental care to kids in need
Interlakes Area United Way and Inter-Lakes Community Partnership have partnered to bring Delta Dental's mobile dental truck to the region. The truck will be in Madison July 15-19 and in Flandreau August 12-16.
Delta Dental's Mobile Dental Program offers dental care to children who can't afford or access a dentist because of cost, lack of insurance, transportation or other reasons.
A full range of dental care is available for children ages 0-21, including exams, cleanings, preventive treatments and cavity fillings. Oral health education is also provided to patients so they can continue to care for their teeth after the visit.
While this is the first time the truck will be making a stop in Flandreau, it has been making an annual stop in Madison for many years. During its visit in 2018, the truck and staff served 64 youth and provided over $43,000 in dental care, including 114 diagnostic procedures, 377 preventative procedures and 138 restorative procedures.
Services are provided at no cost to the child or family, and no insurance is necessary. Registration in advance is needed, and a patient consent and information form must be completed.
Requests for appointments at both locations are currently being accepted. For more information or to see if your child is eligible, contact Mendy at ICAP at (605) 256-6518 Ext. 121.
