"We're going to remove some chokecherry trees and bushes from our yard and dig up the driveway," she said. "I'm also looking forward to moving snow for the neighborhood this winter."
Knippling won the skid loader as part of the WIN BIG Raffle conducted by Interlakes Area United Way (IAUW). The annual contest raises funds for non-profit agencies and programs in Lake, Miner and Moody Counties.
Knippling said she and her husband Matt typically buy a raffle ticket every year as a donation to IAUW.
"Our children attend the Boys & Girls Club of Moody County which is supported by Interlakes Area United Way," she said. "Both programs are important to this community."
This year, she bought her ticket from IAUW representative Emily Pieper at Riverside Park Days in Flandreau.
"As I was leaving I jokingly told her, 'Take care of my skid loader, because I know I'm going to win,'" Knippling laughed. "But when I got the call, I couldn't believe it."
Knippling's skid loader was donated by Lake County International and Manitou Group, both of Madison, and has a retail value of $36,225 as equipped.
IAUW's WIN BIG Raffle typically generates about one-third of the organization's annual funding. This year, 486 out of 500 tickets were sold, garnering $48,600 in proceeds.
IAUW, Lake County International and Manitou Group were the raffle's leading sponsors with additional support from East River Electric Power Cooperative, Heartland Consumers Power District, First Bank & Trust, Great Western Bank and Wells Fargo Bank of Madison. Rivers Edge Bank of Howard, First National Bank of Flandreau and Landis Ag of Colman also signed on as first-time sponsors.
